Bristol Zoo Gardens has appointed a new head of guest services. Chris Page will be responsible for overseeing admissions, guest experience, membership, the gift shop, the 12-acre grounds and the general presentation of the zoo.
Chris, originally from Yorkshire, joins the zoo’s senior management group and has responsibility for around 50 staff in total. He previously worked as a manager at Showcase Cinema de Lux in Cabot Circus and, prior to that, spent four years working in guest relations with Disney Cruise Lines.
He said: “I’m happy to be joining a conservation charity which has such strong credentials and plays a big part in Bristol and beyond. I’m looking forward to being part of such a well-known visitor attraction.
“This year we are focusing on enhancing the guest experience at the zoo and moving closer towards our ultimate goal of being the best city zoo in the world.”
Bristol Zoo’s head of commercial operations, Wendy Walton, said: “We are thrilled that Chris has joined us. He has a strong background in customer relations which will be of great benefit to us and we very much welcome him on board.”
In 2011 Bristol Zoo celebrated its 175th anniversary. Over that time it has helped save more than 175 species from extinction, established more than 30 field conservation and research programmes all over the world and had more than 90m visitors.
