The Bristol office of regional law firm Foot Anstey is working with Weston College to support its plan to create a Law and Professional Services Academy.

The multi-million pound project, which will be based at the recently acquired Arosfa Hotel and Winter Gardens Pavilion in Weston-super-Mare, was devised in response to demand from Bristol’s legal and financial services sector.

Once completed, the college will offer new courses in law and justice services, finance and accountancy, and professional services such as leadership and management, HR and event management.

As well as advising the college throughout the acquisition of the Arosfa, Foot Anstey is working with it to launch legal services apprenticeships.

Foot Anstey head of real estate, Richard Walford said: “The strategic acquisition will create a first-class environment for tomorrow’s professionals.

“Our firm already benefits from Weston College’s legal apprenticeship scheme so we are particularly pleased to be involved in making it happen.”

College principal and chief executive, Dr Paul Phillips, added: “We are thrilled to be expanding the college with the creation of this flagship academy, which will provide industry-recognised vocational routes into employment.”

The academy is expected to bring a multi-million pound boost to the local economy, with the creation of 35 teaching and support roles, 250 students, and other auxiliary roles.

Work on the development, pictured below in a CGI, is already underway with completion set for spring 2016.
