We’re looking ahead to a MITIE strong future, says outsourcing group boss

The chief executive of MITIE, the fast-growing Bristol-based outsourcing group, said the business was stronger than ever today as it unveiled a 9.5% profits rise.

The group, whose South West clients include Bristol Airport and The University of Exeter, achieved the increase in pre-tax profits to £55.3m on revenues up 10.5% at £1.05bn in the six months to September 30.

The FTSE-250 company employs more than 70,000 people across the UK and Europe – more than 7,000 of them in the South West.

Chief executive Ruby McGregor-Smith, pictured, said: “The first half of the year has seen strong operational and financial performance for MITIE. We continue to identify new opportunities with both existing and new clients in all of our key markets.

“The successful re-positioning of the business means we are in a stronger and better position than ever to deliver higher growth and maintain strong margins. We look ahead with confidence.”

The group operates four main divisions – its core facilities management business, which achieved 10% growth in operating profits to nearly £50m on revenues up 10.3% at £821m, healthcare, into which its has integrated homecare firm Enara firm acquired for £110.8m a year ago, property management and energy.
