Skills and opportunities for up to 3,000 adults across Bristol and the West of England are to be boosted under a new project.
Future Bright is a £4m scheme being run by the West of England Combined Authority (WECA), working with Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Bath & North East Somerset, councils. 
West of England Metro Mayor Tim Bowles said: “Future Bright will help people already in work who are on in-work benefits into secure, more meaningful and better-paid careers.
“It will support my ambition to boost skills across the region, improving job opportunities for all our residents. I want to ensure that everyone, whatever their background or personal circumstances, can get the right support and skills to help them fulfil their potential.
“We will also be encouraging employers to get involved in Future Bright. Investing in employees is good for individuals’ health and wellbeing, and good for business, so we will be providing free support to help businesses develop employee engagement schemes.”
WECA’s constituent councils – Bristol, South Gloucestershire, and Bath & North East Somerset, councils – will run Future Bright in their areas, working with housing associations and registered social landlords.
Career progression coaches will work with eligible individuals to help them improve their earning potential and income, by providing tailored personal and professional development.
