Bristol-based organic food retailer the Better Food Company is to open its third store next week in the city’s emerging food hub at Wapping Wharf.
Better Food, which already has outlets in St Werburghs and Clifton, is taking up a prime position at the entrance to the new Harbourside development, directly opposite Gaol Ferry Bridge. 
The rapidly developing area connects south Bristol to the city centre via a new pedestrian route and landscaped square.
The 2,500 sq ft store will offer a range of organic, locally sourced and Fairtrade produce, including fresh fruit and veg, bread, dairy, meat, poultry and seafood, plus wine, beer and cider.
It will also have an organic café serving a bespoke menu of fresh, home-cooked mains, soups and salads, cakes and biscuits, and a wide range of teas, coffees and juices. Opening hours are 8am – 8pm, Monday to Saturday, and 8am – 6pm on Sundays.
Better Food managing director and community farming pioneer Phil Haughton, pictured below, said: “We’re thrilled to be part of the vibrant new community that’s emerging at Wapping Wharf, sitting alongside other independent retailers and creating a much-needed link between south Bristol and the city centre. 
“Our goal is to make organic food more accessible to the people of Bristol and, at the same time, support the dozens of local farmers, producers and artisans – many of whom are based within just 50 miles of Bristol – in order to create a sustainable supply chain.
“We look forward to welcoming Bristolians to our new store when it opens on Wednesday.” The store will host a series of events to coincide with the Harbour Festival.

The Better Food Company was established as an organic delivery service in 1992. Turnover is set to double by 2021 to more than £8m.
Meanwhile, the remains of 18th century cottages related to the city’s historic shipbuilding trade have been unearthed at Wapping Wharf as part of an archaeological dig carried out in preparation for works to start on phase two of the development.
This historic site is east of the area that was home to West Wapping dry dock, one of the most important docks in the city from the early 18th century until the closure of the Wapping shipbuilding yards in the 1860s.
