The Virgin StartUp Live tour, which aims to help launch 1,000 new businesses across the UK, arrives in Bristol on Tuesday with one of the city’s most-successful entrepreneurs on hand to give advice.
Tristan Hogg, co-founder of Pieminister, the pioneering Bristol-based firm that has brought real pies back to the UK, will give an insight into how he launched the business and offer his expertise.
He will be joined by Giles Mitchell, founder of Bath-based Office Pantry, which delivers snacks to workplaces, and advisors from Business West, who will offer focused advice and work with applicants after the event to develop their funding applications and ideas into fully-fledged businesses.
The Virgin StartUp tour, which kicked off in Birmingham on July 1, is providing practical start-up guidance, networking opportunities and inspiration in nine cities across the country.
Since its creation in October 2013, Virgin StartUp, a not-for-profit company backed by Sir Richard Branson, has offered financial support, mentoring and business advice to over 200 aspiring entrepreneurs. It provides start-up loans of £500-£25,000, backed up with one-on-one mentoring, advice, resources and opportunities to work with companies across the Virgin Group.
The Virgin StartUp Live Bristol stop is at The Watershed on Tuesday between 5:30pm and 8pm.
