Bristol-based waste management broker Waste Source is celebrating its best trading figures since it launched six years ago following a record number of new client wins.
The firm, set up by Bristol accountant-turned-entrepreneur Chris Holland, pictured, with just £200, is on course for a near 100% increase in turnover to £2.4m compared to last year.
Among the high-profile names signed up by the firm over the past year are The Ivy, The Handmade Burger Co. and Remarkable Pubs.
Managing director Chris Holland said existing clients had also increased the volume of their work.
“We’re a new, challenger brand that has not long ago entered the market but is thriving due to its commitment to the very best levels of service and use of technology,” he said.
“We started at the tail end of the recession and entered what is a competitive market. This good news is testament to the hard work of everybody here.”
Waste Source, which now employs 10 people, is expected to achieve a turnover of around £7m in the next three years and Chris believes that with the UK waste market expected to grow by 5% until 2020 due to population increases, his company could even exceed this target.
Chris previously worked at Bristol outsourcing group Mitie and Pieminister. He had the idea for Waste Source while working in procurement at the iconic Bristol-based pie business seven years ago.
A year later he teamed up with Jon Free, who utilised his IT background to build the firm’s website and telecoms and systems infrastructure from scratch.
Waste Source counts companies such as Turtle Bay, Boston Tea Party and Oak Furniture Land as clients and manage of all of their waste processes in an ethical and transparent way.
