Businesses will get the chance to learn about trade opportunities in Bristol’s twin city and Georgian capital Tbilisi at a breakfast event tomorrow.
Speakers from the Georgian Embassy and the British Georgian Chamber of Commerce will look at the benefits of trading with Tbilisi, pictured, and Georgia, where the economy is growing rapidly.
Georgia is now 10th on the world index for the ease of doing business with international partners and has recently signed a new free trade and association deal with the EU.
While a number of Bristol companies already work closely with Georgian counterparts there are opportunities for many more to be involved, according to organisers the Bristol Tbilisi Association.
The association is organising a trade mission to the city in October and the breakfast is a chance to hear more about the current opportunities across a range of sectors. Some places on the mission, which is being staged in partnership with the British Embassy in Tbilisi, the British Georgian Chamber of Commerce (BGCC), Tbilisi City Council and the Georgian Embassy in London, are still available.
Tomorrow’s business breakfast is at Goldbrick House on Park Street, starting at 8am and ending at 9.30am. As well as speakers from the Georgian Embassy in London and the head of the British Georgian Chamber of Commerce a representative of a local company already trading with Georgia will give their view of doing business there. Bristol has been twinned with Tbilisi since 1988.
Tickets for the event are £10 and include a full English breakfast plus tea and coffee. Attendees can day on the day. To book email alix.hughes@bristol.gov.uk
