West firms considering taking part in a high-profile trade mission to China later this year will today find out more about how it will help their business.

More than 50 West firms are expected to attend the briefing this lunchtime at HSBC’s Bristol office where they will gain a market overview of the trade opportunities in fast-growing China, an outline of the itinerary and information on the funding available to businesses taking part.

The three-city trade mission, supported by the Institute of Directors (IoD), takes place between November 10-17.

It is targeting several core industries integral to the West, including the creative sector, consumer goods (from signature foods to fashion), green technologies and advanced engineering.

The three cities to be visited are Hangzhou – a designated green model city and newly endorsed World Heritage Site; Shanghai – China’s financial, commercial and creative hub (pictured below); and Guangzhou – Bristol’s twin city and the manufacturing capital of China.

Firms taking part will also be able to attend a networking event ahead of the mission in October to meet representatives of China’s top 200 companies in October.
