Investment specialist Dan Whitewood has joined the Bristol headquarters of TLT as a legal director, continuing the national law firm’s UK-wide expansion of its corporate team.
Dan, pictured, joins from Simmons & Simmons’ Bristol office, where he was an associate. He brings a wealth of early-stage and fast-growth investment experience to its team, having been recognised in the latest edition of the respected sector directory Legal 500 as a key lawyer for venture capital.
TLT said the growth of its corporate team had mirrored the success of the wider firm, with expansion across the UK and a doubling of revenue over the past four years.
In the past 18 months the firm has made strategic appointments in its Belfast, Glasgow and London offices with the hire of new partners and a legal director.
In Bristol corporate lawyer Nina Searle was promoted to partner in May of last year, while John Wood, the firm’s previous head of corporate, has been elected as its new managing partner with effect from April 1 this year.
TLT partner Andrew Webber, who was recently appointed as the firm’s new UK head of corporate, said: “Dan’s appointment is part of our ambitious strategy to continue to rapidly grow the corporate team at all of our locations, adding senior expertise as well as resource for mid-market transactional work across the UK.
“Dan’s investment experience not only strengthens our private equity capability but also our support for early-stage and fast-growth companies and their investors, with his digital and technology experience fitting well with our sector approach.”
Dan Whitewood added: “I’m really excited to be joining TLT corporate at this time of rapid growth for the national corporate practice and the wider firm.
“TLT’s corporate team has been recognised for numerous awards and listed for its exceptional lawyers, but more importantly I’m excited to be part of a firm that’s genuinely focused on pushing the boundaries and coming up with new ideas to support its clients in their focus sectors.”
TLT works with the South West Creative Technology Network to provide legal services to its members and has recently partnered with TechSPARK, the region’s tech sector information hub, to deliver a pioneering programme to help catalyse investment into fast-growing start-ups in the West of England.
