Clean energy expert Madi Dacey has joined Bristol-headquartered national law firm TLT as a partner in its projects, infrastructure and construction (PIC) team in a move it said boosted its future energy capabilities and its expertise in complex energy and infrastructure projects.
Madi, pictured, a transactional construction lawyer with a particular focus on future energy, is the latest to join the PIC team, following the appointment of partner Alexander Murdie in September.
Madi, who joins from accountancy group EY, has more than 15 years’ experience advising on major international projects.
She also has an in-depth understanding of the future energy landscape, bolstering the level of service TLT provides to clients in this space.
Her practice focuses on leading on the drafting and negotiation of construction, operation, maintenance and asset management agreements for energy and infrastructure projects across a wide range of technologies including interconnectors, geothermal, biomass, solar, wind, battery storage, EV charging and tyre pyrolysis.
Her extensive experience includes advising a major electric vehicle charging company on its installation contracts with multiple contractors UK-wide; drafting the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the UK’s first geothermal project; advising lenders on £100m-plus refinancings of portfolios of wind farms; and advising a large utility on the operation and maintenance contract for the converter station for its €1bn interconnector.
At TLT, she will work alongside partner Nick Pincott and the wider team supporting the growth and development of the firm’s construction expertise in the future energy sector.
Madi’s appointment also shortly follows the arrival of a number of lateral hires to the PIC team, including structured finance partners Victoria Quek and Mike Kruger, regulatory partner Juliet Stradling and real estate specialists and partners Joe Kelly and Nick Shenken.
Madi said: “The heightened global focus on net zero targets means that investment in the development of clean energy projects continues to increase.
“I am thrilled to be joining a firm which recognises the importance of building a cross-practice future energy team to service this demand.
“I look forward to working alongside my new colleagues and reconnecting with former colleagues to continue to deliver great results for clients.”
TLT partner and head of its PIC team Simon Goss added: “Madi’s arrival is a further major boost to TLT’s infrastructure offering and her specialist expertise will be a real asset to the broader PIC team.
“Together with the arrival of Alex Murdie in September, TLT is building an infrastructure offering equal to anyone in the market and gives us excellent strength in depth.
“We look forward to working alongside Madi as we continue to strengthen our position as a leading adviser in all PIC’s market sectors.”
TLT has more than 160 partners and employs around 1,600 people across its offices in Bristol, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Belfast, as well as a specialist ship finance team in Piraeus, Greece.
