Financial and professional services firm Smith & Williamson has strengthened its senior team in Bristol with three promotions.
Helen Bassett and Marcus Graham have been promoted to director in the firm’s assurance and business services and transaction services teams respectively, while David Gage has been appointed an associate director in business tax.
The promotions follow the recent appointment of Nigel Hardy as head of assurance and business services and Zoe Thomas to head of business tax.
Helen Bassett leads Smith & Williamson’s business outsourcing services team in Bristol and has more than 18 years’ experience helping high-growth owner-managed businesses achieve their financial and business ambitions. She specialises in statutory and management accounts reporting and cloud solutions, and is the firm’s Making Tax Digital for VAT champion.
Marcus heads Smith & Williamson’s transaction services service line, part of a 15-strong transactions team in Bristol. He joined the firm from global accountancy firm Deloitte in 2017 and specialises in financial due diligence for private equity, banking and corporate clients.
He works across a broad range of sectors including manufacturing, manpower services, technology and financial services, providing analysis and advice on the financial aspects of capital transactions.
David heads the Bristol office’s VAT team, providing strategic and commercial VAT advice to clients ranging from owner-managed businesses to public companies across a broad range of sectors. He also heads the Bristol real estate team and works with developers, landowners, investors and intermediaries to provide tax planning and structuring advice.
Smith & Williamson Bristol office managing partner Carl Deane said: “The promotions of Helen, Marcus and David are richly deserved.
“They are part of the same process which saw Nigel and Zoe being appointed to head our assurance and business services and business tax services respectively, and will help the firm consolidate its position as the trusted adviser for aspirational businesses in Bristol and the West of England.”
