Bristol’s best workplace will be named next week – with three of the city’s happiest and most inspirational firms vying for the coveted title.

Judges for the inaugural Happiest Workplace Award visited the three firms this week and Mayor of Bristol George Ferguson – who was on the judging panel – will announce the winner at a ceremony at the Engine Shed innovation hub on Thursday.

Entries for the award, the brainchild of Montpelier-based workplace and interior design consultancy Wylde IA, read like a who’s who of  Bristol’s top firms.

They were whittled down to the three-strong shortlist made up of Wallace & Gromit and Shaun the Sheep animation studio Aardman, based on Gas Ferry Road, city centre publisher Immediate Media and skate board and clothing distribution firm Shiner at Aztec West.

The contest, the first of its kind in Bristol, set out to champion those firms that put the happiness of their employees at the heart of their workplace.

Director Maxine Bennett said the response was testament to the fact the South West is a hotbed of happy, creative teams.

The judging panel included Maxine and Bristol Business News editor Robert Buckland.

Full details of the winner and photos of the award ceremony will appear in next week’s Bristol Business News e-bulletin.

Wylde IA is an award-winning independent interior design consultancy. Launched 18 years ago, it specialises in creative design, working directly with clients throughout the UK and Europe in partnership with external suppliers, architects and fit-out companies to create inspiring places.
