Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week Tom Parnell, director of The HR World, answers our 10 questions.
What was the LAST: 
Film you watched? Everest. I managed to catch this not expecting much but I have to say I was very pleasantly surprised. Tension throughout and, given that it’s based on a true story, a real eye-opener. I think I’ll be sticking to climbing Glastonbury Tor for now.
Book you read? Mr Mercedes. A recent Stephen King novel which, I have to say, didn’t disappoint. I haven’t read anything by Stephen King for some time and he’s moved into a crime thriller genre with this book, which really worked and had me gripped throughout.
Music you bought/downloaded? Red Hot Chili Peppers The Getaway. I’ve always been a huge fan and off the back of listening to their new album I’m off to see them in December.
Concert or play you went to? Mumford & Sons in Cardiff. One of my absolute favourites and they did not disappoint! I would absolutely recommend.
Sporting event you attended? Bath vs Worcester at the Rec. Bath won in a great game in September.
Holiday you went on? A driving holiday through California and onto Las Vegas. Definitely one for a burger lover such as myself.
Restaurant you ate in? Simply Thai on Gloucester Road. A perfect venue for a quick, late night bite to eat. They cooked up a lovely Thai green curry.
Thing that annoyed you? Manchester United losing to Manchester City. I cannot bring myself to say any more than that!
Thing that made you laugh out loud? I’ve just started watching a show on the iPlayer which is called Some People Just Do Nothing. It’s brilliant and I’m watching at least an episode a night – a British mockumentary at its best.
Piece of good advice you were given? From no other than my old man (the font of all knowledge). No matter how bad anything gets at work there is always going to be someone that is worse off or in more of a predicament. Take a moment to reflect and then follow your instincts and avoid reacting emotionally.
