Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin.
This week Tim Stringer, divisional director of Integral Build, the Bristol-based specialists in construction, interiors, refurbishment and fit out, answers our 10 questions.
Film you watched? Wolf of Wall Street starring Leonardo Di Caprio. All the more compelling because it's a true story.
Book you read? A Jack Reacher on my Kindle. I’ve worked my way through most of them!
Music you bought or downloaded? Faithless on iTunes, a real driving album to start those early morning drives along the M4. It gives the speakers a good test!
Concert or play you went to? So long ago I can’t even remember
Sporting event you attended? The Ryder Cup at Gleneagles with my son Jack. A 930-mile round trip for one day's golf but it was worth it. Great atmosphere and banter with the fans, plus a great result for Europe. Now looking at France in 2018!
Holiday you went on? A lovely week down in Devon in the village of Slapton, where we fished on the beach used for D Day trials and where sadly many American troops died during the exercise.
Restaurant you ate in? Cau Bristol on Queens Road – a great steak in a great setting. They have done a really good job on the fit out.
Thing that annoyed you? Someone telling me they are going to do something and then not doing it.
Thing that made you laugh out loud? After hearing the latest Conservative MP with “issues”, we watched Little Britain’s sketches of similar stories on YouTube
Piece of good advice you were given? By an old hand of a site manager called Des Pike while I was a trainee at what was Pearce Construction (on the TSB office block in Newport). He said to me “You will make mistakes, no question about it, everyone does. Prepare yourself for that but always learn from them and never make the same mistake twice.” He was a formidable manager and made a real impression on me.
