Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week Stephen Entwistle, operations director at Turtle Bay, answers our 10 questions.
What was the LAST:
Film you watched? 12 Years A Slave. A realistic portrayal of the stark brutality and inhuman treatment of one people by another. A great but unsettling watch.
Book you read? Work Rules!: insights from inside Google that will transform how you live
Music you bought/downloaded? Massive Attack – Blue Lines. A timeless classic that gets better with age
Concert or play you went to? My son’s school Christmas play.
Sporting event you attended? My son’s under-11 football tournament a few weeks ago. He is a great defender and his team smashed it! You have to admire the hard work, determination and teamwork of a bunch of 10 year olds. Some lessons there?
Holiday you went on? Jamaica, a beautiful island paradise, with a wonderful culture and people. Not to mention the rum, reggae and jerk!
Restaurant you ate in? Obviously Turtle Bay. Just had a spot of lunch at our new Bristol restaurant on Cheltenham Road (formerly Plantation). Delicious with plenty of flavour and kick!
Thing that annoyed you? Another parking ticket! Local councils simply don’t make it easy for the operator or consumer to be in city centres
Thing that made you laugh out loud? Another parking ticket!
Piece of good advice you were given? There has been so much. The secret is to do something about it! Probably “Think, plan, do, check”. Very simple but effective advice that I was given a number of years ago, that is still valuable on a daily basis. I try and pass it onto my team.
