Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week Rich Osborn, founder and CEO of Fresh-range, answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST:

Film you watched? I watched The BFG this week (for the second time) with my 10 and seven-year-old sons.

Book you read? I don’t do a lot of reading – mostly I only do it when I take a holiday. The last book I read on holiday was an autobiography about a young World War II fighter pilot; First Light by Geoffrey Wellum. He tells a fascinating story that is incredibly exciting in places but also brought to life a few themes I really identify with: take time to reflect and conquer one’s thoughts to overcome the significant challenges, keep learning all the time, and work very hard.

Music you bought/downloaded? Ray Gelato and Claire Martin A Swingin’ Affair. I’m a big jazz fan. I saw them at the Colston Hall Jazz festival with my mum last year. Great musicians in their band.

Concert or play you went to? I managed to get tickets to see Coldplay in Cardiff over the summer. They made it a spectacular show. My wife Viki has gotten me into Jonny Flynn over the last couple of years. We went to see him play at The Trinity in Bristol a couple of months ago. He’s a good performer. My wife likes him a bit too much.

Sporting event you attended? Forest Green Rovers. They’re my local team where I live near Stroud. They just got promoted out of the non-league. That said, my true loyalties lie with The Gas.

Holiday you went on? Teignmouth. A friend lent us his house there so we spent a wonderful week down on the English Riviera. It’s a working town with character – really vibrant pubs. Went fishing on a boat and caught some mackerel for tea and walked to Dawlish (where my Granny used to go on holiday every year) and came back on the train. It’s only 90 minutes away from Bristol.

Restaurant you ate in? Root. Josh Eggleton’s new restaurant at CARGO on the harbourside. Top food that.

Thing that annoyed you? Brexit negotiations.

Thing that made you laugh out loud? Brexit negotiations.

Piece of good advice you were given? Re-read Good to Great by Jim Collins. I first read that book when I worked for Procter & Gamble several years ago but re-reading it now as a small business owner, it makes a great deal more sense. Anyone who is ambitious about their business should give it a read.
