Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week CBRE Bristol operational real estate transaction team leader Phil Schmid, answers our 10 questions.
Film you watched? The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. My wife and I have very different film tastes, so while she was away I was able to watch this! It’s a Guy Ritchie film about how the SAS came about. It’s got a great cast.
Book you read? Ultramarathon Man by Dean Karnazes. I’ve completed two ultramarathons, my latest one in the summer in High Wycombe.
Music you bought? I can’t say I’ve bought any music recently, but my latest download was probably Fred Again.
Concert or play you went to? We went to see the Foo Fighters in Cardiff in the summer. Great band!
Sporting event you attended? That would be the T20 games at The Oval in the summer
Holiday you went on? Île de Ré in France. It’s an Island off the west coast with beautiful beaches and views.
Restaurant you ate in? I have a nine year old and an 11 year old, so getting out for dinner isn’t as easy as it used to be. I think the last meal out we had was Bravas, the tapas bar on Cotham Hill.
Thing that annoyed you? Ah, I can’t think of anything that really annoyed me, but the last inconvenience was probably for me and my wife. She unfortunately had to have knee reconstruction, which left her off her feet for six weeks. She’s much better now, thankfully.
Thing that made you laugh out loud? Probably Emmanuel Sonubi. He’s a London-based comedian. Look him up!
Piece of good advice you were given? It’s not the last piece of advice, but one that always stuck with me is from one of my first bosses who said ‘you can’t accelerate grey hairs’, basically meaning you can’t rush experience, it just takes time. Another one is from Jimmy Carr, something along the lines of…everyone will want the things you have, but no one will want to do the things to get there.
