Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week Karl Brown, president of the Bristol Junior Chamber and senior associate at Clarke Willmott, answers our 10 questions.
Film you watched? Selma – an inspiring film about the will power and leadership required during the American civil rights movement in the 1960’s.
Book you read? The Last Campaign – Robert F. Kennedy and 82 days that inspired America by Thurston Clarke on audio book. Robert Kennedy is one of my heroes.
Music you bought/downloaded? Calvin Harris’ Motion. It is a very good album with some good tunes on it.
Concert or play you went to? Othello at the National Theatre in London. I am a very big fan of Shakespeare plays and this was a great production featuring TV actor Adrian Lester.
Sporting event you attended? I was part of a Bristol Junior Chamber team that took part in a rotary dragon boat race event last year. A fun day for a charitable cause.
Holiday you went on? A family holiday in Jamaica over Christmas. I love going to Jamaica and it was nice to get some warm sunshine during winter.
Restaurant you ate in? The Ganges on Gloucester Road. I feel very fortunate to live close to Gloucester Road which has so many great restaurants on it.
Thing that annoyed you? The last time that I saw someone being rude. I am a great believer in showing good manners and respect to other people.
Thing that made you laugh out loud? A joke made by a former president of the Bristol Junior Chamber. The gentleman who told the joke was president in the 1960’s and displayed a real vintage humour.
Piece of good advice you were given? One of my favourite ever quotes is Nelson Mandela’s “never under estimate the power of persistence”. I always have this quote in front of me on my desk at work.
