What was the LAST:
Film you watched? Last week it was my turn to choose from a backlog of films, and opting for a rom-com thought my partner may be less than delighted. How wrong I was. Man Up had us laughing out loud all the way through. It is a tender, fantastically satisfying screwball romp. And the stars Simon Pegg and Lake Bell have cracking chemistry.
Book you read? POD by Tony Wardle. I was gripped start to finish. It is filled with political back stabbing, sex, love, betrayal yet with moral fiber as, finally, animals fight back.
Music you bought/downloaded? Gemini Feed by Banks.
Concert or play you went to? A Very Bad Woman at the Chapter Arts in Cardiff. An incredible, shocking and surprisingly funny play about Yvonne Ridley, the journalist who was captured by the Taliban when she tried to enter Afghanistan undercover on a donkey.
Sporting event you attended? Forest Green Rovers. I was invited through Viva! as it is the first vegan football club in Britain. Truly, I didn’t think I’d enjoy it much but I did. I’m going back again at the end of October to celebrate their first year as a vegan club and choosing the man of the match.
Holiday you went on? Valencia, Spain with my twin sons – we did two weeks of Spanish classes, which I also mixed with beaches and pina coladas.
Restaurant you ate in? Maitreya Social in Easton with my excited best friend who was about to get married. Maitreya is one of my favourites – gourmet inventive cuisine that is cheap. Where else can you get vegan cherry and almond samosas, dark chocolate sorbet and almond brittle.
Thing that annoyed you? A media company refusing to report on male chicks being killed at a day old in the egg industry because it would upset people too much – such a cruel practice continues unabated, hidden and, conveniently, it’s out of sight, so also out of mind.
Thing that made you laugh out loud? My sons make me laugh a lot. One, who hates shopping, recently hid in a clothes rail in a shop I wanted to go in and piped up ‘Pick me! Pick Me!’
Piece of good advice you were given? Be wary of strong drink. It can make you shoot at tax collectors, and miss.
