Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week Danni Rochman, Bristol Fairtrade Network Project Coordinator, answers our 10 questions.
Film you watched? Moonlight. I was so pleased to wake up the morning after the Oscars to find it had won Best Picture – even if the award did nearly go to the wrong film! It feels like an incredibly important film, dealing sensitively with subjects that need to be given more mainstream airtime.
Book you read? Stasiland by Anna Funder. I’ve been meaning to read it for 10 years and finally spotted a copy on my friends’ bookshelf. It’s a collection of unsettling tales from behind the Berlin Wall.
Music you bought or downloaded? I should probably be embarrassed to say that it was Sleeper’s Greatest Hits album. I was a teenager in the 90s, so Brit Pop has a special, nostalgic place in my heart.
Concert or play you went to? Othello at the Tobacco Factory, and I can’t recommend it enough. The audience was so engrossed in the plot, people were physically reacting to the violent climax of the play.
Sporting event you attended? Umm… does yoga count?
Holiday you went on? Lisbon for a friend’s wedding. I made a beeline for the pasteis de nata custard tarts.
Restaurant you ate in? The Old Bookshop on North Street. I had a hearty sweet potato curry and an impeccable Psychopomp martini.
Thing that annoyed you? Yet another umbrella snapping in the wind.
Thing that made you laugh out loud? I went to the Southville Window Wanderland at the weekend and witnessed a lovely moment as a mum tried to explain to her little girl what ’50 Shades of Gay’ meant!
Piece of good advice you were given? Detailed instructions from Adrian Wogan about how to make the perfect cafetière coffee – it’s foolproof! He’ll be making his eponymous coffee at this year’s South West Fairtrade Business Awards, so we’re guaranteed a good brew.
