Each week Bristol Business News gives a prominent member of the city’s business community the last word on its weekly e-bulletin. This week Tech4Good South West co-founder Annie Legge answers our 10 questions.

What was the LAST

Film you watched? The Outrun. I loved the emphasis on healing through nature – cold water swimming and the sea!

Book you read? Four Thousand Weeks by Oliver Burkeman, which explores the idea that we don’t have all the time in the world, so we should focus on what truly matters. Basically, stop trying to fit so much in and focus on what will actually bring you joy and value.  Definitely life lessons for me!

Music you bought/downloaded? Follow the Sun by Xavier Rudd. It’s such a happy, go lucky track and makes me think of long summer days. However, I have also recently started playing Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics again. It reminds me so much of younger years and I saw them in concert at Wembley, which was incredible all those years ago! You have to play it REALLY loud!

Concert or play you went to? I recently saw Deborah Warner’s production of Metamorphoses at the Ustinov Studio in Bath. My friend and I make a point to see all of Warner’s productions, with world-class staging and choreography and I am so lucky to have access to this quality of theatre right here!

Sporting event you attended? My son was a competitive trampolinist, so we’ve been to see him competing at various venues across the country. He’s only 17 but had an awful leg injury in practice a few months ago and, sadly, this has ended his ability to participate in gymnastics and trampolining. It’s our mission to find another sport he can apply his focus to.

Restaurant you ate in? The Pig near Bath. It was such a treat to have lunch on a Friday with three other women all connected through our work but socialise together too – the food and service there is just fantastic. I had a non-alcoholic martini which was divine!

Holiday you went on? Kalkan in Turkey. A family holiday to mark the end of my son’s A-levels and it was magic – sun, sea, incredible food and of course sunset cocktails! We were in a hotel for a week, and for the first time I didn’t try to do too much, just properly relaxed and absorbed our environment rather than my usual up early, and exploring everywhere!

Thing that annoyed you? Actually, my dogs! I have two fox red labradors who are gorgeous, until the doorbell rings – their barking drives me insane!!

Thing that made you laugh out loud? I’ve recently been on a girls’ holiday to Ibiza, the laughs were endless, particularly singing to all the 90s hits on a disco minibus on the way back from a night out – just feeling young again!

Piece of good advice you were given? A great friend of mine who was part of an expedition to the North Pole many years ago gave me this advice recently, that we can make as many plans as we want but things happen and things will change, sometimes it’ll be positive, other times negative and other times just a bit neutral. However, every day we learn and make progress – even if we don’t realise it. I love that.
