Bristol and London law firm Temple Bright has advised longstanding client Ambulatory Surgery International (ASI) on the latest phase of its private healthcare facility development.
Contracts were signed in late September for a £1.7m expansion of surgery facilities at OneWelbeck in London’s Marylebone. 
Temple Bright advised ASI, which trades as Welbeck Health, on the construction agreements.
The firm has previously advised Welbeck Health on earlier phases of the project, which included the creation of imaging suites, general consulting facilities, operating theatres, procedure rooms and recovery facilities over nine floors.
The scheme is Welbeck Health’s first. Having acquired the lease of 1 Welbeck Street in 2017 it has converted the former offices into a high-end healthcare day surgery and outpatient diagnostics facility.
Multiple clinics are now open at OneWelbeck, which aims to deliver levels of comfort and care beyond those usually available in the UK.
The first phase of works at the site, completed in 2020, involved refurbishing and converting the basement up to the third floor, to include state-of-the-art facilities for gastroenterology, cardiology, and orthopaedics as well as a world-class imaging and diagnostics suite. 
The second phase, completed later the same year, comprised shell and core alterations and the fit-out of levels five and six to accommodate further specialties, including women’s healthcare, ENT, dermatology, respiratory health and space for an executive screening program.
The new surgery facilities became operative this week and are already in use for a full range of specialties, with particular emphasis on cardiology, orthopaedics and gastrointestinal surgery.

Temple Bright, led by corporate partner Stuart Hutson, has advised ASI since its inception on all legal aspects of its business including corporate finance, medicolegal, real estate, construction and employment matters.
