The corporate tax team at regional law firm Ashfords’ Bristol office has been boosted by the appointment of Nicola Manclark as partner.

Nicola, pictured, joins from Bristol-based rival Burges Salmon, where she spent more than 10 years in its corporate tax department, most recently as a senior associate.

Her practice encompasses advising on all aspects of corporate and commercial tax, including in connection with mergers and acquisitions, group reorganisations, finance and banking, real estate transactions, cross border and employment taxes.

She has experience in acting for and advising management and vendors in buyouts, advising banking clients on international cash pooling arrangements and acting for funds on real estate acquisitions including providing advice on transfers of capital allowances, VAT and SDLT.

Ashfords partner and head of the corporate and commercial team Andrew Betteridge said: “Nicola’s appointment to the firm reinforces our position as a corporate heavyweight and reflects the firm’s growth and commitment to our clients. We are thrilled that Nicola has now joined us bringing with her a wealth of knowledge and experience within the tax sector.”

Nicola, who is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and a qualified Chartered Tax Adviser, added: “Ashfords is continuously growing from strength to strength and I am delighted to have joined such a forward-thinking firm.”

Ashfords, which also has offices in Plymouth, Taunton and London, was recently named as one of the UK’s most active legal advisers for corporate transactions in the Experian MarketIQ Deals Review, ranked 13th in the UK and first in the South West.
