The Bristol office of international real estate advisory firm JLL is calling on young people keen to learn more about a career in the property industry to apply to its upcoming virtual work experience programme.

The four-day Access to Property with JLL programme will give students aged between 14 and 19 a chance to find out whether a job in the property sector – or within inter-related teams such as marketing, business admin or finance – might be for them.

Running from 11 to 14 April in partnership with London-based career guidance firm Springpod, the sessions will include live and recorded webinars hosted by current JLL graduates and apprentices, which students can join or dip into later as part of a flexible programme.

Students taking part will get the opportunity to learn about the JLL culture, its diversity and inclusion (D&I) strategy and approach to sustainability, as well as the technical skills and attributes required – whether for a job as a surveyor, agent, consultant, valuer or one of the many other roles the sector offers.

Head of JLL’s Bristol office Simon Peacock, pictured, said: “This virtual work experience programme is open to anyone aged 14 to 19, however it forms part of our wider social mobility strategy focused on supporting young people into careers in property through non-traditional routes.

“This is an excellent opportunity for students who perhaps may not have considered a career in property or in inter-related sectors previously and would like to find out whether it could be for them.”

Participants will also learn about routes into apprenticeship, graduate and internship opportunities at JLL.

In 2020, JLL took part in an independent report on socio-economic diversity in the property sector – the first of its kind in the industry – in collaboration with 11 other property firms and funded by the JLL Foundation.

It revealed that the property industry was deeply lacking in diversity and acutely by socio-economic background.

Initiatives such as Access to Property with JLL form part of JLL’s strategy to address this issue.

The application deadline is 6 April. Interested students can apply via the website here

JLL, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, has operations in more than 80 countries and a global workforce of nearly 93,000.
