The Bristol office of global real estate advisory firm CBRE marked this year’s International Women’s Day by celebrating the sports, engineering, social, economic and cultural achievements of women.
Speakers at the breakfast seminar, staged at its office, included long distance runner and cancer survivor Nicky Spinks, who has set women’s records for major fell-running challenges, and former fighter pilot Ipek Gursu, who now works as a senior integrator at Airbus.
The gathering took inspiration from this year’s International Women’s Day theme of #EachforEqual, with CBRE Bristol managing director Tom Morris saying he hoped staff and guests would have taken away the message that everyone can play a part in “challenging stereotypes, fight bias and broaden perceptions”.
He added: “It was a fantastic morning, listening to our speakers’ unique experiences and how they perceive the world changes in order to accommodate women’s needs.”
Organiser Anna Lambourne, a surveyor in CBRE Bristol’s property management team, said: “It was a pleasure to host the event at our CBRE office and welcome so many professionals from various companies.”
CBRE’s efforts to address gender balance as a company include fully paid shared parental leave, mentoring schemes, unconscious bias training and balanced recruitment strategies.
The firm employs more than 75,000 in around 450 offices worldwide. It offers a broad range of integrated services spanning facilities, transaction and project management to property management and sales.
