Accountancy, investment management and tax group Smith & Williamson’s Bristol office has hosted its 10th annual reception at the city’s Royal West of England Academy’s renowned Annual Open Exhibition.
With all its artworks for sale, the exhibition is regarded as one of the key events of the UK art calendar and the perfect opportunity to discover new artists or buy something by those more established.
Smith & Williamson’s reception also marked the firm’s third year of sponsoring the major exhibition, with more than 400 guests viewing the dynamic and varied collection of paintings, drawings, photography, sculptures, illustrations and mixed media.
Smith & Williamson Bristol office senior partner Mike Lea said: “This was the 165th Annual Open Exhibition and showcased some of the most exciting artists from across the country. So we were naturally delighted to play host to this fabulous exhibition and to highlight Smith & Williamson’s commitment to supporting the arts locally.
“The beauty of the exhibition is that anyone can enter their work for this mixed discipline show and allows up-and-coming or undiscovered artists to exhibit their work alongside those who are perhaps more well-known.”
This year’s exhibition includes work by two prestigious invited artists – renowned painter and President of the Royal Academy Christopher Le Brun and photographic artist Tom Hunter RA – as well as the RWA’s own academicians and other leading international artists.
Smith & Williamson Bristol office head of investment management John Erskine added: “This was a fantastic exhibition and is one of the highlights of Smith & Williamson’s year, so it was wonderful to see so many people attend.”
