Bristol small business owners can get advice on how to protect against the latest online threats at a free cyber security workshop next month.
Hosted by business support organisation BRAVE Enterprise, the event on June 13th will take place following figures showing more than four in 10 UK firms suffered a cyber breach or attack in the past year.
The most common attacks were fraudulent emails followed by cyber criminals impersonating an organisation online, according to the latest government statistics.
The half-day cyber security workshop at BRAVE’S offices in Upper York Street will be presented by Joanne Bocko of Avon and Somerset Police, who will advise entrepreneurs how to guard against such attacks.
BRAVE Enterprise director Liz Sands, pictured, said: “Small businesses and the self-employed are particularly vulnerable to increasingly sophisticated cyber crime. The latest figures from the government show that the problem is only getting worse.
“Our free workshop will explain how you can keep your business safe and protect it from these online scams by putting some simple measures in place.”
BRAVE, an independent and not-for-profit business support organisation, has helped thousands of entrepreneurs start and run profitable businesses since it was launched in the 1980s.
It provides a wide range of practical business advice and low-cost training to both people thinking about becoming self-employed and trading businesses looking to grow.
