Bristol animators Aardman is aiming for its fifth Oscar victory with its feature film The Pirates! Band of Misfits nominated for an Academy Award.
The film, released in cinemas last year, is Aardman’s first full-length 3D stop-motion production.
Aardman has received six Oscar Nominations and has won four times. Director Nick Park’s Creature Comforts short film was the first Aardman production to win an Oscar. This was followed by Mr Park’s Wallace and Gromit shorts The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave.
The full-length feature Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit scooped Aardman's fourth Academy Award.
