Slide, the shared commuting service being trialled in Bristol, is expanding its service again to cover a larger area of the city following demand from potential customers.
Brislington, Knowle, Totterdown in the south of the city and Emersons Green, Downend and Bromley Heath to the north east are being added to its network from Monday. 
Slide was launched by RATP Dev UK, part of the large French-owned urban transport group, last summer on a small number of routes connecting North Bristol with the city centre. It has since expanded into the west and east of the city and more recently doubled the number of vehicles in its fleet.
The service allows Bristol commuters to book their ride to and from work using an app. They can arrange a ride in a Slide vehicle in advance or just minutes before the journey they wish to make.
Behind the scenes, the technology then calculates the optimal route to the passenger’s destination based on others requesting a similar journey.
Unlike traditional bus routes, Slide routes are created organically, according to user demand. Passengers will be given a pick-up point a short walk from their starting point and a pick-up time.
Up to eight passengers can travel in a Slide vehicle - all of which have wi-fi and air conditioning – and they will be provided with real time updates on the app along the way.
Slide is offering free commuting for a week to celebrate the launch in the new areas. To get free travel to and from work, passengers must download the Slide app, book their ride and enter the promo code HELLOBS4 or HELLOBS16, depending on their postcode.
RATP Dev UK business development director Coralie Triadou said: “We are really pleased with the welcome that Slide has received in Bristol and of the fantastic passenger reviews, it means we are now able to serve Bristolians by expanding into Knowle and Emersons Green.”
