Bristol’s leading role in building sustainable businesses and a more inclusive economy comes under the spotlight next week at a major event in the city.
The gathering of investors, academics and sustainability networks will be the first of a series to be staged by B Lab UK – the body that brings together companies that measure their social and environmental impact – and the Association of Sustainability Practitioners (ASP).
The inaugural event takes place on Thursday at ethical bank Triodos’ Bristol headquarters.
It will hear from:
- Pioneering local B Corp firms including Triodos, Neighbourly, Pukka Herbs and Resource Futures – all companies using their business as a force for good and creating real social and environmental impact
- Bristol University’s Research Fellowship on profit with purpose
- Bristol-based social impact investors Resonance and their Social Investment Tax Relief Fund
B Lab UK executive director Katie Hill said: “We’re really excited to be launching our South West events in Bristol, alongside our fantastic local B Corps.
“Bristol is a buzzing hub of social business and we’re looking forward to connecting with local organisations passionate about creating positive social impact.”
Nick Davies, founder of certified B Corp firm Neighbourly – the Bristol-based social platform that connects companies that want to make a difference with community projects – added: “Citizens of the South-West have a long and colourful history of social campaigning and environmental stewardship – values at the very heart of the B Corp movement.
“2017 is a year for turning attitude into action and I’m thrilled that B Lab UK are coming by to help inspire our region’s brilliant businesses with stories of what it means to ‘Be The Change’.”
The event is on the Lower Ground Floor, St George’s Road, between 4pm-7:30pm.
