Stage Electrics, the Bristol-based entertainment technology products and services provider, has strengthened its senior management team with two new appointments.

The firm has grown into the UK’s leading specialist stage lighting & performance equipment supplier for theatre, live events and broadcast since its launch in 1979.

Operating from and HQ and warehouse at Patchway along with a northern office in Edinburgh, the firm, which has around 240 employees, supplies items from extension cables to full lighting rigs and also designs and manufactures electrical equipment.

Paul Roughton, currently Stage Electrics’ national sales manager, will become head of equipment sales in the senior team changes while Pete White, previously support & services manager, will take up role of head of venue services.

Both officially take up their new roles at the beginning of August.

Paul will be responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of the company’s equipment sales department, supporting the sales team and working with the market-leading brands the company offers its customers.

Pete will be responsible for the day-to-day management and leadership of venue services.

This position includes overseeing the integration into the group of Glasgow-based Just Rigging & Inspections Scotland, which Stage Electrics acquired earlier this year.

The new roles follow last year’s restructuring of the company’s projects department, when Ian Dunne became head of business development & sales—projects, and Richard Phare was appointed commercial manager (UK).

The firm said these moves further highlighted its commitment to building a robust leadership team and promoting succession planning.

In 2013 the firm was acquired from founder David Whitehead through a management buyout led by commercial director Dan Aldridge,

A year later it took over leading lighting, audio and video company Northern Light in Edinburgh and sold SLX, the group’s hire and events business in 2019.

The firm’s clients range from Cornwall’s spectacular open air, clifftop Minack Theatre to the Liverpool Institute For Performing Arts and Center Parcs, for which it has kitted out the conference centres at its Sherwood Forest and Woburn Forest locations.

Stage Electrics sales director Anna Western, who will work closely with Paul and Pete in their new roles, said: “These strategic appointments strengthen our senior management team, enhance our capabilities and provide a clear path for further growth and development opportunities within the company.”

Dan Aldridge added: “By bringing on the next generation of leaders, we are not only ensuring continuity but also positioning ourselves to ensure we continue to deliver great services to our clients whilst expanding our market presence.”
