Bristol-based commercial banking manager Rob Hall has been recognised for his role in championing sustainable business with a high-profile business award.

Rob, senior manager at Lloyds Banking Group, has been named 2013 Marks & Spencer Sieff Award winner for the South West for his commitment to community engagement across Bristol and Somerset.

The award, which was presented at Business in the Community’s (BiTC) annual Responsible Business Awards, acknowledges individuals that have been recognised as the next generation of senior business leaders.

Rob voluntarily took on the role of Bristol and Somerset Community Champion for Lloyds three years ago. Since then he has ensured that community involvement is an integral part of how Lloyds operates.

Alongside his work as community champion, Rob has continued to deliver outstanding business results and inspired his team to seek out their own community projects. He has been recognised at the highest level of Lloyds Banking Group Commercial and his work has formed a framework that has been adopted by other parts of the business.

Bristol & Somerset area director for SME banking at Lloyds Banking Group, Martin Racher, said: “Rob’s efforts have led to a network of colleagues taking part in BiTC activities across the group. Rob is also responsible for delivering one of the highest levels of customer advocacy across the Commercial Banking division and has proved that community engagement improves core business performance of his team and the wellbeing of his staff.

“Rob is a role model to other senior colleagues who have been inspired to pursue their own contacts and projects through Rob’s practical help and passion.”

Rob said: “I’ve relished the opportunities being community champion has opened for me personally, and to the business as a whole. To win this award demonstrates how responsible business practices are now essential to how we do business.” Pictured: Rob Hall, right, receiving the Marks & Spencer Sieff Award at the recent awards ceremony at St George’s, Bristol, from Business in the Community South West Princes Ambassador Mark Stevens
