Bristol law firm Gregg Latchams, one of the UK’s oldest surviving legal practices, has unveiled a new look and new name – GL Law – to reflect its new way of working in the rapidly changing legal market.
The change is part of a major rebrand for the firm in support of its strategic transition to the post-pandemic landscape, including reducing its office space and increasing home-based working.
The firm, which has a team of 65 in Bristol’s Queen Square and a London office, can trace its roots back 325 years.
It works with individuals and businesses in sectors ranging from creative, media and tech to food and drink and property.
GL Law said its legal and support teams will now have greater freedom to work with a focus on client service and productivity instead of hours in the office.
The rebrand also reflects a move towards what the firm is calling a hybrid agile working model – which will evolve to combine new office space and home-based flexible working for the long term.
GL Law managing director Richard Hill said over the past six months the firm had accelerated its investment in technology and agile working while shaping its services to support clients when the going gets tough.
“It’s been an exciting and very insightful period in that respect,” he said. “It’s given us laser focus to think about what really matters to clients and how we can direct change for the firm to shape a new collective future.
“The foundations for the change to GL Law were set out a couple of years ago to reflect a more modern, fresh approach to our business. We’ve added to this all that we’ve learnt during the past six months, without forgetting our 300-year legacy, of course.
“Change is a given to embrace not fight and having been in business for this long has meant we are constantly evolving to meet our clients’ needs.”
He said that successfully delivering legal services was about providing solutions to clients in a way that suits them and adds value, demystifying the legal process and offering long-term support for their changing circumstances.
“We could not do this without our team of course, these are the wonderful people who have made and will continue to drive GL Law forward each and every day, through their hard work and commitment to their clients and each other,” added Mr Hill.
The new branding has been created by Bristol agency Hive. Based at the city’s Paintworks media hub, Hive has been building engaging brands for 15 years and has previously worked with Bath law firm Mowbray Woodwards (now part of Stone King), as well as Bakers Dolphin, the South West’s largest coach operator, and hand sanitation range Cuticura.
