Midas Construction’s Wessex and Wales division has promoted Jamie Harwood to the post of operational director just five months after he joined the company.
Jamie was recruited as an operational manager last November to manage multi-million pound projects for the division of Midas Group, one of the South West’s largest independent construction companies. 
He will oversee four operational managers and take responsibility for major developments led by Midas throughout the region including a £16m student accommodation block in Bristol, a new £10m campus building in Corsham for Wiltshire Council, and a £7.5m office refurbishment in Bristol city centre.
Jamie is also managing the much-anticipated Filwood Green Business Park now under construction in Knowle and which will kick-start Bristol’s status as European Green Capital in 2015.
Work on the £11.6m flagship scheme started earlier this year and has already attracted international attention as one of the most environmentally-friendly new building projects in Europe.
Jamie said: “I know the area very well having grown up here and worked locally in construction for many years, and I’m really enjoying working for Midas on some major developments which will really benefit the region.”
Prior to joining the Midas Group, Jamie worked as a projects director for Bristol-based Cowlin, which was later acquired by Balfour Beatty.
Jamie was with the firm for 16 years, having joined as a graduate trainee in 1998 from the University of the West of England in Bristol with a degree in construction management.
