Fast-growing Bristol law firm Temple Bright has added property specialist Richard Spencer to its practice – the 15th partner to join the firm since its 2010 launch.
Richard, who specialises in commercial and residential property investment and development work, was previously a partner and head of department at Cheltenham law firm BPE.
He becomes the fourth partner in Temple Bright’s property team, which recently advised OpalTec on its Gloucester Ski Centre deal and Pieminister on the acquisition of its north Bristol manufacturing base.
Temple Bright co-founder Tim Summers, pictured below, left, with Richard, said: “We are delighted to welcome Richard as a well-connected and respected specialist in one of our core practice areas. His arrival strengthens our real estate offering to developers and investors – and in a market that is starting to regain confidence after a difficult few years. Based on the uplift we have seen in instructions, we are feeling similarly confident and look forward to introducing Richard to our property clients as activity returns.”
Richard said: “I am excited to be joining Temple Bright, a pioneering law firm which is making waves nationally. With my broad network of relationships, I plan to build my practice in London, the Midlands and the South West.”
Tim and fellow co-founder Justyn McIlhinney put the firm’s rapid growth in difficult market conditions down to an innovative business model that lets senior lawyers advise clients directly, without the involvement of any juniors. The firm uses cloud technologies to boost efficiency and reduce overheads, enabling its partners to provide sophisticated advice at competitive, often fixed, prices.
As a ‘chambers practice’ – a solicitors’ firm structured like a barristers’ chambers – Temple Bright’s business model is designed specifically to meet the needs of owner-managed businesses and entrepreneurs.
“Pessimism has dogged the property world for some time,” said Tim. “But our own experience and the steadily growing activity of investors and developers suggests a recovery is coming. Adding Richard to the Temple Bright team is a vital step in getting behind our clients as confidence returns.”
