Insurance broker Lockton has become the second firm to announce plans to relocate its Bristol base from one side of Temple Way to the other as newly refurbished prime office space comes onto the market.
The firm, the world’s largest independent insurance brokerage, is to move from North Quay House on Temple Back to the prime Bristol waterside location Two Trinity Quay, pictured.
Lockton, which was advised by the Bristol office of property agents Savills, will occupy the penthouse sixth floor of the building, the former NatWest/RBS regional HQ, taking 5,287 sq ft of office space on a 17-year lease term at a rent of £28.50 per sq ft.
It follows in the footsteps of specialist legal expenses insurance group DAS UK, which last October announced it is to relocate its 550 Bristol employees to 37,828 sq ft of refurbished space at Two Trinity Quay from its current base in North Quay and the neighbouring DAS House.
Two Trinity Quay was comprehensively refurbished around a year ago by NatWest and provides six floors of Grade A open plan office accommodation.
Lockton partner and head of global professional & financial risks, EJ Hentenaar, said: “We are delighted to be moving our Bristol office to Two Trinity Quay, while we continue to grow and attract the best insurance industry talent in the region.
“Bristol plays a key role in our growth aspirations for professional and financial lines business and this new home will provide Lockton Associates with a first-class environment to serve and host our clients and insurer partners. We look forward to seeing them all there as soon as Covid regulations permit.”
Harry Allen, an associate director in the office agency team at Savills Bristol, added: “Our client’s objectives were to acquire larger premises to support the growth of their Bristol office and at the same time upgrade the quality of their accommodation,
“We are pleased to have concluded this acquisition on attractive commercial terms following an exhaustive search of the market during the course of 2020.”
CBRE and Avison Young advised NatWest.
