National health, safety and environmental consultancy The Building Safety Group has appointed Neil Sherreard, the former managing director of Bristol-based Cowlin Construction, as a director.
Neil, pictured, was previously on the board of the consultancy, based near Thornbury, between 1998 and 2008. Having left Cowlin a year ago, he is now a non-executive director of Swindon-based Beard Construction and a director of PR firm bClear Communications based in Clevedon.
The Building Safety Group has more than 750 member companies employing 20,000 people across 3,500 UK workplaces.
Neil’s aim is to help the group expand its membership, increase the amount of training it delivers and help it to consolidate its position as the UK’s leading health, safety and environmental consultancy.
He is the third non-executive director appointed to The Building Safety Group this year and follows Rupert Perkins, of Bristol firm John Perkins Construction, and Guy Leach of Cardiff’s Knox & Wells onto the board.
Neil said: “The Building Safety Group plays a vital role in raising and maintaining excellent health and safety standards throughout the country.
“It is because I feel the group plays such a crucial role in an area as important as health and safety that I am pleased to return to assist the board with its expansion plans and to help enhance the services that it offers to its members.”
Building Safety Group chairman Michael Setter said: “Neil has a very wide experience of the construction industry having worked for both regional and national contractors.
“His interest in, and commitment to, health and safety is well known and he will be a great asset to the board.”
