Accountancy firm RSM has promoted corporate tax specialist Andrew Gordon and audit director Sarah Joannidi to partner roles in its Bristol office.
Andrew joined the firm as a trainee after graduating from the University of Bristol in 2001. A fully qualified chartered accountant and chartered tax adviser, he has worked in Bristol since 2008 after transferring from the firm’s Birmingham office.
His career has included a secondment at Pitcher Partner’s tax department in Melbourne, Australia.
Andrew has a particular expertise in advising private equity-backed businesses and structuring share schemes in a tax-efficient way for clients.
Sarah joined RSM as a senior manager in 2006 and was promoted to director in 2011. She had previously spent seven years at KPMG following a period spent training as a chartered accountant with regional firm Monahans.
She is a US-focused expert with particular experience with US reporting under SEC requirements and US GAAP. Her current portfolio covers a wide range of sectors but with a number of clients in distribution, manufacturing and professional services. In her new role she will focus on securing further international work and expanding RSM’s already strong international offering in Bristol.
The two Bristol appointments are among 19 partner promotions across the UK, reflecting the firm’s recent growth. RSM UK group’s profits rose 39% last year to £45m on revenues up 26% at £292m.
Bristol office managing partner Kate Reid said: “I’d like to congratulate both Sarah and Andrew on their promotion to partner. I’m absolutely delighted that we could offer them the career opportunities to match their talent and ambition and I am sure that they will play an even more significant role in helping our local clients grow their businesses profitably, both in the UK and beyond.”
