A video produced by Bristol creative agency Workbrands to show the benefits of carbon offsetting has been launched at the Paris climate change talks.
The video, made for the International Carbon Reduction and Offset Alliance (ICROA), features nine business leaders explaining why offset strategies make good business sense.
They also speak about the challenges and opportunities their approach has created, and why they believe this has made a difference.
Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, is also featured in the video, which had its debut today at the UN conference on climate change in Paris. She calls for action to ensure a secure, stable climate for the future and identifies offsetting as a vital part of the solution to meet global emission reduction.

It aims to show that offsetting carbon emissions is a responsible business practice, carried out by respected organisations internationally that see business value from this activity.
To get this message across, the team at Workbrands collated videos supplied by spokespeople of the businesses involved and ensured their key points stood out through careful editing, the use of pull quotes and engaging vector illustrations.
ICROA programme director Sophy Greenhalgh said: “We believe that now, more than ever, offsetting has a crucial role to play, both for business success and for global greenhouse gas reduction targets. We hope that by hearing about the business benefits of offsetting, others will be inspired to follow their leadership.”
The climate change negotiations in Paris are unusual in recognising the role that business must play in meeting greenhouse gas reduction targets.
Many businesses see using carbon finance to offset emissions as an immediate response which can bridge the gap between internal reductions and meeting meaningful commitments.
Workbrands director Nick Farrar said: “We feel very privileged to help ICROA raise awareness of the number of leading businesses who offset carbon emissions and to create a catalyst for other businesses to follow suit.
“It’s fantastic to be able to directly contribute to the climate conference, especially as this is high on Bristol’s agenda as European Green Capital.”
