Avonmouth’s newest big shed has been handed over to pallet distributors CHEP UK - the world’s leading provider of pallet and container pooling solutions. The 50,000 sq ft unit at Central Park is being fitted out for use as a pallet repair and distribution facility to service its South West customers. The external yard is capable of storing more than 280,000 pallets.
Property advisers GVA managed the fast track construction of the unit on behalf of site owners Portland Estates, and Goodman UK Logistics. Winvic Construction were the appointed contractors.
GVA building director James Stanger said: “We completed this construction in just 30 weeks. We had the challenges of the winter weather, but I’m delighted all has been completed on time and within budget. Since this is the first unit to be built on phase one of the site, our role incorporated managing mains service connections as well as construction of new access roads, footpaths and cycleways all to highway adoptable standards.”
CHEP’s Kelvin Galvin said: “We are looking forward to moving in once fit-out is complete. Central Park is a landmark scheme and puts us in the heart of this vibrant, business focussed region.”
The 640-acre Central Park, next to the M49, is the South West’s largest distribution park and has the potential for a further 4m sq ft of new space.
