South West private commercial property consultancy ETP has appointed Alastair Kimpton and Edward Le Masurier as partners as the market continues to expand.
Alastair joins the firm, which has offices in Cotham Hill, Bristol and Chepstow, after a five-year stint with Jones Lang LaSalle (now JLL).
He specialises in development consultancy and commercial valuations, working with lending institutions, developers and land owners to enable finance and bring forward new developments.
He also advises on the non-PBSA (purpose-built student accommodation) market, which has enjoyed considerable growth over the past few years.
Edward has been with ETP since 2010, having joined from DTZ, where he was a graduate surveyor. He has spent the past eight years as an associate at ETP and is its main point of contact for all agency, development consultancy and asset management instructions.
Alastair said: “ETP is a well-respected and established name in the South West. The commercial property sector has seen significant change in recent years, with the region becoming increasingly attractive to developers and investors seeking higher returns than can be found in the South East.
“The market has matured sufficiently, and such is the weight of money in the market, we are now being approached by large institutions seeking to acquire regional portfolios of HMO (houses in multiple occupation).
“There is still plenty of development potential in Bristol and Bath due to the number and success of the universities in the area, and the large numbers of students they are attracting.
“The fact that Channel 4 has chosen to base a creative hub in the city underlines Bristol’s reputation as a city for the future.”
ETP was originally set up in 1878, making it the oldest private commercial property practice in Bristol.
It advises lenders, developers, private individuals, owner-occupiers, accountants and small-to-medium sized enterprises in property acquisition and disposal, planning and development, valuations and property management services.
It is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Bristol Property Agents Association.
