Two corporate advisers from the Bristol office of international legal practice Osborne Clarke have advised on the European launch of digital sports platform The Players’ Tribune (TPT).
Corporate partner Simon Jones and senior associate James Taylor worked on TPT’s first platform outside the US, which will also target the Middle East and Africa.
It will feature content written by a host of professional athletes, including football superstars Lionel Messi, Neymar, Luis Suarez and Cristiano Ronaldo, and the Premier League’s Gabriel Jesus and Harry Kane, pictured, plus cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar.
The new venture will have offices in London and Barcelona and operate in partnership with Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Pique and his Kosmos investment group.
It will be officially launched in this spring with comprehensive, multilingual content leading up to this summer’s World Cup.
Since it started in 2014, more than 1,800 athletes have shared their personal stories and discussed important issues on The Players’ Tribune.
TPT was advised by a transatlantic Osborne Clarke team, which also included partner and head of its New York office Steve Wilson, and international expansion manager Tim Rezendes.
