Office move will help insurance broker build on its growth potential

Independent brokers Venture Insurance has found the new offices it needs to act as a base for continued expansion after a long search.

Last year the firm announced that a lack of available office space in and around Whiteladies Road in Bristol was frustrating its plans to achieve further growth.

The company, which specialises in commercial and professional indemnity insurance, is on course to place premiums in excess of £7.5m this year, up from £6m last year and £4.5m in 2013. It has also taken on two new permanent members of staff, growing its team to 11.

It has now bought an office a stone’s throw from its Kings Parade Avenue office in a private sale.

Venture Insurance’s new base will be in Bank House, on Burlington Road, Redland. It will move in following a substantial internal and external refurbishment.

Director Ian Burgess, pictured outside its new premises, said: “It’s fantastic news. After all this time looking, we have found somewhere just 200 yards from where we were set up.

“It’s a wonderful building, with plenty of parking for us and for clients who want to visit.”

The company has already started recruiting for two new members of staff to fill its new office space. It has also promoted former account director Alec Cole to the position of shareholding director.

Venture Insurance’s brokers offer between them more than 150 years’ experience in insurance across a wide range of industries.

In 2013, a year after it was launched, it became one of fewer than 100 in the UK to have been given Chartered status.

Ian Burgess added: “For the business, it’s great. We were hamstrung by the size of the former building and this lets us plan and realise the employment growth we want to implement.

“The promotion of Alec Cole to shareholding director is a demonstration of our commitment to plan for the future. We are currently recruiting further positions and hope to be able to announce some new appointments soon.

“We’re proud of what we’ve achieved and things are looking healthy financially. We are a business which is thriving and bringing in lots of new clients.

“We are still getting great support from insurers who love the fact that we are independent. We are hiring developed, experienced, top-end professionals, employing people who can really look after our clients.”
