National law firm Foot Anstey, which has an office in Bristol, has maintained its organic growth with the addition of two new partners.

Paolo Sbuttoni, a technology, data privacy and commercial lawyer, has joined from Baker McKenzie in Hong Kong, while a real estate disputes lawyer Kate New re-joins the firm, having previously worked for it as a legal director.

Paolo, pictured, will play a key role in enhancing Foot Anstey’s technology and data capabilities, working with clients in the UK and internationally.

He has substantial experience advising European, US and Asia-based clients across the TMT (technology, media, telecoms), consumer goods and retail, and financial sectors on data privacy and cybersecurity compliance, as well as technology and digital transformation projects.

He is admitted as a solicitor in the UK and Hong Kong. Prior to spending 13 years with Baker McKenzie in Hong Kong, he worked for Nabarro for six years, where he completed his training.

Kate, pictured, supports clients to find commercial solutions to all manner of disputes concerning their real estate.

She has considerable experience working on a broad variety of disputes where clients need solutions that will often involve the use of alternative dispute resolution (ADR).

Kate, who previously worked at Foot Anstey between 2017 and 2020, rejoins the firm from the Reading office of Osborne Clarke and also worked in-house at telecoms operator Cellnex Telecom and at Blake Morgan and Dundas & Wilson.

Foot Anstey managing partner Martin Hirst said the pair were very welcome additions to the firm’s partnership.

“They will bring considerable expertise and a fresh approach to our firm. They are exactly the type of partners we want to attract to Foot Anstey,” he added.

Paolo and Kate’s arrival brings the total number of partners who have joined Foot Anstey this year to four. In April, the firm expanded into Manchester and welcomed intellectual property partner Roy Crozier and his team, while in May real estate partner Philip Brown joined the firm’s developer sector.

Foot Anstey, which also has offices in Exeter, London, Plymouth, Southampton, Taunton and Truro, advises clients in sectors spanning development, energy and infrastructure to Islamic finance and retail and consumer.
