Bishop Fleming, the regional accountancy firm with its largest office in Bristol, has continued its growth with the appointment of a new head of risk assurance.

Alastair Campbell, pictured, left, with Bishop Fleming partner Joe Scaife, joins from rival RSM, where he worked for more than 20 years, most recently as a senior manager.

He has 25 years of experience working with a wide range of clients across the public, not-for-profit and corporate sectors in the South West and beyond, having qualified with Deloitte in Bristol before joining RSM.

His new role as Bishop Fleming’s head of risk assurance and internal audit will cover all the firm’s seven offices, which spread from Truro to Worcester. He will embark on helping the firm with its continued growth expansion and widening client service ambitions.

Bishop Fleming’s headcount has increased by 5% over the past year. The firm’s offering to businesses span audit, accounting, tax, and advisory services.

Alastair said: “I am excited about the opportunity to join such a highly respected, fast-growing and ambitious firm to harmonise, consolidate and expand our internal audit and wider risk assurance offering.

“All organisations can benefit from a greater focus on the challenges that will stop or hinder them achieving their aims, and in particular, we will be able to work with them to ensure they have clear assurances that these challenges can be overcome, side-stepped or ideally avoided altogether.

“It’s clear that building long-term relationships, client service and professionalism are all key to Bishop Fleming’s approach to clients, and these are also all important to me. It is also nice personally to have the opportunity to join a firm repeatedly recognised and accredited as an employer of choice.”

Partner Joe Scaife said Alastair’s appointment represented a significant enhancement to the firm’s existing internal audit and wider risk assurance offering and demonstrated its commitment to continue to grow its wider assurance and advisory services to clients from all sectors.

“Alastair’s skills, experience and clear focus for client service will bring great benefits to businesses and organisations across the region,” he added.

“This is an exciting time for the firm following on from our centenary and as we pursue a number of key strategies for growth.”

Bishop Fleming celebrated its centenary year in 2019 by raising £150,000 for 60 local and national charities. It was also crowned ‘Business of the Year’ at the National Chamber Awards.
