Regional law firm Michelmores is to relocate its Bristol base after securing new grade A space in a redeveloped city centre office scheme.
The firm, currently based in Broad Quay House on The Centre, will move into the 11,000 sq ft office in 10 Victoria Street, pictured, later this year when its bespoke fit-out is completed.
The space will be the first of the firm’s four offices designed from scratch to complement its agile working model, with plans to create a bespoke configuration that supports collaborative working and offers a welcoming space for clients.
Michelmores said the repurposed building’s strong sustainability credentials aligned with its recently launched Destination 2030 strategy, which aims to develop “a more diverse, equitable and engaged business, with a vision that delivers both profit and purpose”.
The building has the highest WiredScore rating in Bristol and a Platinum Cycling Score in recognition of its commitment to outstanding connectivity and exceptional cycling amenities, with storage for 76 bikes with shower and changing facilities, plus specialist cycle clothing drying lockers and four EV charging points.
It also has a BREEAM ‘very good’ rating while its hybrid design and mixture of period and contemporary architecture offer an innovative working environment.
The move also comes as Michelmores continues to achieve growth across its core private client, business and real estate groups and follows some strategic recruitment, including six senior lateral partner hires this financial year.
Michelmores partner and Bristol office head Paul Beanlands said: “This move marks our ongoing commitment to investing in Bristol, which has played a key role in Michelmores’ growth trajectory over the past decade.
“Having the right space is key to our Destination 2030 strategy and growth and talent attraction plans.
“It also represents our commitment to sustainability and a people-first culture, where employees have the space and support to produce their best work.”
The firm was advised on the acquisition by property agents Hartnell Taylor Cook. CSquared acted as joint agents on the letting for landlord Northwood.
Hartnell Taylor Cook and CSquared are now marketing the remaining 24,636 sq ft of available space to rent in the building, which is close to Bristol’s new Finzel’s Reach mixed-use redevelopment.
Hartnell Taylor Cook partner Chris Grazier said: “This is a great start to the year for the Bristol office market off the back of a record year in 2022.
“The flight to quality in the city centre is soaring and this landmark building offers a state-of-the-art space in a prime location.”
Michelmores employs more than 450 people across its network of four offices, which also includes London, Exeter and Cheltenham.
