Bristol technology and internet consultancy Auros, whose clients include Gatwick Airport, Swinton Insurance and the NHS, has been acquired by Zone, a London-based digital agency.
The combined business is forecast to generate a turnover of more than £13m and have a workforce of around 140. The 20-strong team at Auros – Latin for 'new dawn' – will remain in Bristol.
Zone works for blue-chips such as Coca-Cola, Tesco, Associated British Foods and The Nike Foundation.
The integrated team is being led by Auros founder Dominic Mills, who has joined the Zone board as chief technology officer. Current Zone CTO Marc Parnell has taken on the new role of chief information officer.
Zone managing director Jon Davie said: “The acquisition is a significant step in our ambitious growth plans. It reinforces our belief that great technology underpins everything brands have to do in a digital world.
“Tech’s too important to outsource or off-shore – it’s the difference between a brilliant, intuitive idea that works, and a piece of complicated, unusable, digital junk.
“The addition of Dominic and his team will help us continue to service the digital needs of our clients.”
Dominic added: “The integration of the two companies will allow us to significantly increase our range of services, with our technical skills bolstering the UX, creative, content and strategic expertise that Zone offer.
“We’re really excited about what this means for Auros. We believe it’s a great opportunity for our clients and our people and are already seeing the benefits from working together with Zone.”
Financial details of the deal have not been released.
