Global tech group Infostretch is to create more than 40 jobs in Bristol by opening a base in the city.

The Silicon Valley-based group, which employees more than 2,000 people in 15 offices across the world, said it was attracted to set up in Bristol due to the West of England’s world-class higher education institutions, including the universities of Bristol, Bath and the West of England Bristol (UWE).

It also cited the city’s burgeoning tech sector, which is set to grow to almost £20bn gross value added (GVA) a year by 2026, creating more than 125,000 jobs and positioning Bristol as one of the UK’s fastest-growing tech hubs.

Infostretch’s move into the UK came after it acquired technology solutions provider fellow US firm Saggezza last year.

The move added hundreds of people working in Saggezza’s offices in the UK, US and India to its headcount.

At the time, Infostretch said it would continue to invest in the UK by establishing teams in each of the country’s major tech hubs.

Since then Infostretch, which was founded in 2004 and is backed by Goldman Sachs, has created 60 additional full-time positions in Birmingham, Edinburgh and Leeds, as well as doubling its headcount in Sunderland.

The firm provides new generation tech services that help organisations accelerate their digital initiatives from strategy and design to development, testing, implementation and data intelligence.

It said its expansion into Bristol would give more than 40 of the city’s tech workers the opportunity to work on projects for some of the world’s biggest brand names alongside colleagues from across the globe.

Infostretch UK managing director Martin Williams said: “Establishing a presence in each of the UK’s regional tech hubs has been a key priority for Infostretch since the acquisition of Saggezza last year and Bristol was naturally right at the top of our hitlist.

“As well as being home to world-class universities, the city has a thriving tech sector which attracted over £100m in venture capital last year and accounted for more job opportunities than almost anywhere outside of London.

“Add to that the fantastic work-life balance it enables you to offer employees through its world-class arts and culture offering and its stunning coastline, and it’s no surprise that so many businesses are turning their attention towards the city and we’re really looking forward to getting our recruitment drive underway.”

Infostretch UK head of talent acquisition John Wright said the firm had developed a reputation over the years for promoting from within and providing career progression opportunities for its staff.

“We’ll certainly look to continue building on this culture through our expansion into Bristol,” he added.

“From fully funded training courses to wellness initiatives and paid-volunteering opportunities, we really invest in our people and this is reflected by those that have stayed with us and progressed through the ranks since we opened our first ever UK office back in 2011.

“We’re already recruiting for a few roles in Bristol with more to follow over the coming weeks and months.”

Positions are at entry and senior levels in full-stack software development, Salesforce and software testing.
