Bristol-based independent insurance broker Hayes Parsons Insurance has maintained its ambitious growth strategy by recruiting two insurance professionals.
Nigel Rawlings has joined as compliance and training manager – a new position to help develop and deliver ongoing CPD and training and achieve chartered broker status.
Alex O’Donnell, previously a development executive at Zurich, joins as an account executive and will be responsible for looking after the package broking team.
Nigel will also develop an academy of young trainees entering the insurance market and assist with Hayes Parsons’ plans to increase the number of professional firms it works with.
Nigel has joined from Equity Red Star, where he was business development executive. He has also worked at Eagle Star, Zurich and BJP Insurance Brokers in a career spanning over 30 years.
Alex will also assist in expanding the firm’s commercial mid-market new business following growth of 50% over three years.
Hayes Parsons managing director James Woollam said he was delighted that the firm had managed to attract two well-known and capable individuals to the company.
“Nigel will ensure we can continue to build on our apprentice and undergraduate recruitment strategy,” he said.
“Alex’s sales and technical experience will fit in well with the sales team, and our expansion demonstrates our success at growing organically, despite the difficult trading environment.
“Our plans for the future are exciting and I look forward to further similar hires during the year as we continue to pursue our goals.”
The business, which employs 28 staff at its offices in Colston Tower, successfully completed a management buyout earlier this year and continues to look for acquisitions. It provides specialist insurance solutions in several niche areas including marine trade, education and charity, property owners and technology as well as managing a number of bespoke schemes for specific professions who require unique insurance policies.
